Description

This dataset consists of a syntactic and pragmatic analysis of Euripides' Bacchae text, as edited by Giulio Guidorizzi (G. Guidorizzi, "Baccanti. Appendice metrica a cura di Liana Lomiento", Fondazione Lorenzo Valla, Milano, 2020). It isn't a complete analysis of the tragedy: it focuses on the speeches of Pentheus and Dionysus, the main characters, and includes every verse pronounced by them. Readers will find attached more files: the biggest one, "Complete analysis", includes all data and is divided into 5 columns indicating: verses containing the clause, speaking character, clause taken into account, syntactic analysis and pragmatic analysis. The other files, gathered in the folder, display amounts and percentages of occurrences in every section of the tragedy that includes verses pronounced by Pentheus or Dionysus. Further information about method and models used will be attached soon.
